Class II Treatment in Growing Patients: From Scientific Evidence to Clinical Protocols with Invisalign

Abstract
Management of Class II malocclusions during adolescence presents a unique opportunity to combine orthodontic tooth movement with growth modification. With the evolution of clear aligner therapy, clinicians now have new possibilities for managing these patients while maintaining control over both dental and skeletal treatment objectives.

In this evidence-based lecture, Prof. Roberta Lione will explore contemporary approaches to the management of Class II malocclusions in growing patients with Invisalign clear aligners. Drawing on current scientific evidence, published research and clinical experience, she will discuss patient selection, treatment timing and the key diagnostic considerations that influence treatment strategy.

The lecture will translate scientific evidence into practical clinical protocols for sagittal correction in adolescent patients, supported by clinical cases, including cases treated with Mandibular Advancement Occlusal Blocks. Treatment planning, biomechanical considerations and the management of different Class II presentations will be discussed throughout.

Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how to integrate evidence-based protocols into everyday clinical practice and how to select and manage growing Class II patients with greater predictability.

Prof. Roberta Lione, DDS, MS, PhD is Associate Professor in Orthodontics and Director of the Master Program in Orthodontics at UniCamillus University in Rome, Italy. Her clinical and research interests focus on the treatment of growing patients, with particular expertise in Class II malocclusions, orthopedic treatment and clear aligner therapy. She is IBO and EBO certified, an author of numerous scientific publications, and an international speaker at major orthodontic congresses.

Dr. Schwarze studeerde tandheelkunde aan de universiteiten van Bologna, Keulen en Bonn, waar hij zijn doctoraat heeft behaald en een specialistische tandheelkundige opleiding heeft voltooid. Hij bekleedt een onderwijsfunctie aan de Universiteit van Ferrara (Italië) en publiceert regelmatig wetenschappelijke artikelen op het vakgebied van orthodontie. Dr. Schwarze geeft wereldwijd lezingen en is lid van meerdere orthodontisten associaties. Hij is een van de oprichters van de Clinical Education Council en is onderdeel van de European Clinical Advisory Board. Hij is ook algemeen secretaris van de German Association for Aligner Orthodontics (DGAO).

Drs. Jayand Soechitram

Drs. Jayand Soechitram, a dentist for orthodontics and implantologist at THCC in Utrecht, is a leading Dutch expert in clear aligner treatment with Spark by Ormco and lectures and teaches courses for colleagues in the Netherlands and abroad.
